Reuben Marck's birth story.

This may contain To much info for some.

Sunday Jan 10th we arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am to be induced. After trying 4 times to get

an iv in by 8 am they were finally start the penicillin (GBS positve) and the oxytocin. Unlike my other inductions the contractions started to pick up right away. most of my contractions were in my back and they were tolerable. you might think I am weird but i would rather have back labor then the cramping contractions. I was able to walk around which was really nice. My nurse was wonderful. the second time that she checked me she thought the baby had moved so she had another nurse check me and the baby had shifted out of my pelvis area but I was 4 cm last time I was only 2. she had do me sit on the birthing ball to get baby down and since I had to be on monitors the whole time and for some reason the baby's heartrate wouldn't stay on unless someone was holding it so that is what my nurse did. around 3 pm my doctor came and ruptured my membranes. and the contractions really picked up and were getting worse they were now in the front and back. and I asked for the epidural. I was checked again was at a 5 if I would have known how fast or should I say how fast I was gonna go I would of got the epidural earlier. at 3:52 pm the epidural was put in and I had strong urge to push it hurt really bad to push.. what they call the ring of fire this was a first. ( went from sitting pretty much straight up to laying nd pushing atthe same time). and the head was right there the epidural didn't have time to set in. Reuben was born at 3:54 pm. they kept the epidural going cause ended up with a couple of tares. I started to shake and I thought that was strange but was told that it is quite normal. they kept the pit/oxytocin going to help my uterus contract and I was given Ibreprophren (sp?) I started to sting really bad and thought it was the stitches and they wanted to check to see how everyting was look and they discovered that I was quite swollen and had formed a hematoman (blood blister ) one side is completely swollen. since I had the epidural I was numb specially in my left leg. by the time they wanted me to go to the bathroom I thought I could make it. I made it to bathroom but as I was turning to sit down on the toilet my left leg completely gave out on me and I fell. Both Seth and the nurse felt really bad because it caught us by surprised. they were not able to get me up so my doctor and another nurse had to help me up and they had to get a wheel chair. I felt pretty embarrassed but they told me not to that they have seen worse. because of the swelling they put ice on it. and as I was sitting in the wheel chair my nurse sat there and applied pressure with the ice. When you have a baby all privacy goes out the window but its worth it. My Doctor was at the hospital all night and checked me several times. at 1 am he came and checked me and was quite concerned about the bleeding. oh they had to put a cathader in so was not able to get out of bed. Well anyways he told me that they were going to take me back and put me to sleep and see whats causing all the bleeding. and possibly do a blood transfusion. so around 1:30 actually earlier I was wheeled into surgery. from what I was told the hematoma was starting to split so it was bleeding and there was blood clot that he removed and I think there was some areas inside. I did loose a lot of blood but thankfully didn't need a blood transfusion. I am doing a lot better now the cathader is out so I am finally able to up. I am still pretty swollen so have to keep ice on it. Felt like I was walking with a ball between my legs. I haved dubbed this my worse labor so far. It is all worth it. Reuben has been doing really good past both his blood sugar test nursing really good. we were told that he has a big head acorrding to ultrasounds. he is bigger weight and length wise then his brothers but his head is smaller then theirs were Zedekiah's 15, Obadiah's 14 3/4 and Reubens 14 1/2. Reuben weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 inches long. with a head full of hair. ... where Reuben got his name Reuben is my dads name and its also a bible name to go with our theme. Marck is after my father in law and my brother . my brother's is spelt marc and father in law is mark so that is why there is a c & k

past week.

This has been quite a week. Seth took the boys with him to the Tri cities so I could have a break and get something done. I also had 4 apts this past week too. I was finally able to get boys toys put away in a lot neater fashion. I have to admit that it was nice but I sure did miss them. I even made it to the mall wasn't really that fun I was hurting quite a bit as I had just been to the doctors and my doctor checked to see how much I was dialated. I am really wondering what labor is going to be like for this one. I have been telling myself that its going to be my worse so far. I am still not sure how I really feel about an epidural special with having one and not having one. I have read that you should still tell when push and it should only take away the pain. but I have heard stories of people who couldn't feel anything at all. and I like to have some control. I am going to be induced with this baby too. I am so glad that it is going to be over soon and that I will be holding our baby soon. I was able to catch up on some well needed sleep too. I am hoping that the boys adjust well to having a baby in the house. Its kind of funny I am still amazed that I am going to be having another baby.
